My kids are cooler than yours

I have proof of this statement. How could I possibly say this like it's anything resembling fact? Because they're my kids and they'll always be smarter, better looking, and much better behaved than anyone elses' kids I know. Of course there's bias involved, why else would this be such an undisputed fact?

So I finally convinced my little girl to go see The Transformers movie with me. In retrospect, I'm amazed that she agreed to join me considering how adamant she was about not seeing it. I guess youngins assume that movies with Robots are 'Boy Movies' and movies with ponies and animals are 'Girl Movies'. As I'm sure that was the case, her only excuse for not seeing it was that she didn't like the commercials.

I had to totally guilt her into going with me, but I knew she would like it. I explained to her that I take her to see a number of movies I wouldn't normally want to sit through. She couldn't exactly say 'no' to me after that, but I humored her and waited patiently for her to tell me she would accompany me. I knew she's see things my way.

She seemed to enjoy the whole movie and there were even times when she was gleefully giggling at the dialogue. When it was all over, she actually said, 'Daddy, I'm glad you made me come to the movie'. In a feigned innocence, I told her she chose to come with me. Of course, the little shithead reminds me immediately afterwards, 'You said you would've left me at home otherwise.'

*snicker* Guilty.

Job Prospect

The current prospect sounds to be a nice opportunity. Although the pay will likely be around the same, I'm looking forward to a new environment. I might even be able to use the BART (Subway) to get there and back. Fuck driving!

Without revealing too much at my current job, I'll be glad to move onto something different than this fucking wild-west style tech support. I've stopped myself from walking out the door twice today~can you say 'willpower'?

Hiatus

I'm going to take an extended break from blogging. With where I am in life right now, I can't motivate myself to even maintain brief updates. Hopefully you'll be enjoying life alot more than I am right now. *waves* Ciao!

Parental Visit

If you're a Yank, hopefully you all had a nice Independance day. If you're a foreigner living in the States, I hope you enjoyed your day off in the middle of the week (unless you had to work). If you're a foreigner and still living in a foreign land, I still appreciate you stopping by.

Mine consisted of listening to the neighborhood dogs freak out from all the fireworks exploding around at all hours of the day. Thankfully I don't have any pets, otherwise, I'm sure I'd have to conduct some form of damage control.

I also BBQ'd a Tri-Tip slab and it turned out perfect in spite of the fact that I didn't give it as much attention as I should've. Don't tell anyone I was multi-tasking, but I managed to get my place cleaned up as I anticipate a visit from my old man.

He's really saving my bacon by driving my children up here in his car. If he hadn't offered, I would have to finagle another few days off to drive down there and back (yeesh, no thank you to 16 hours of driving). Fortunately, my children offer better than average company while driving, so he'll stay entertained for the entirety of the 8 hour drive.

I anticipate that he's going to stay at my home, which means I've cleared up the obvious signs of me being a complete stoner. If his nose is really keen, he might be able to smell the remainder of that stanky bag I picked up a few weeks ago. Fortunately, the stank doesn't have my roommate reminding me how strong the scent is any longer, which means I probably don't have to answer the $1000 question 'Are you still smoking pot?'.

I'm pretty sure my Pa knows I still smoke the reefer. He doesn't approve, but I wonder if there's ever a possibility I could share a J with him. That would be really neat to do that one day, but I'm not counting on it.

He might stay a few days, and he says he also might take the 101 South along the coast, which is the 'long way'. One of these days, I'll take that route myself...one hears it's one hell of a beautiful drive, especially this time of year. Total convertable weather. Regardless, if he stays, I intend to take him to one of my fave restaurants. Hopefully he'll stick around a few days and we can spend some time doing some sight-seeing.

I also miss the hell out of my kids too, which is partly why I'm anxious for this day to end.

That's all for now. Enjoy your day/night/morning!
